Welcome to The Creatorpreneurs Newsletter – Issue #9 – SHOPIFY
Hi Creatorpreneurs!
Hope your week is going great! Let me tell you, it’s about to get even better because we’ve got some exciting news to share with you. You might need a seat for this one—Lisa and I have made a HUGE change at Laughingbird Software!
WordPress: A 17-Year Adventure We Needed to Wrap Up
For nearly 17 years, Laughingbird Software has been built on the WordPress platform. That’s practically ancient by internet standards! If websites were people, our WordPress site would have gray hairs by now. Sure, WordPress is popular, free, and versatile. Most of you probably use it to host your own websites.
But here’s the thing: running a website on WordPress is like owning an old car. *Sometimes* it gets you where you’re going, and other times you’re parked on the side of the road with smoke coming out of the hood. Between clashing plugins, broken themes, and the constant NEED for updates, we were basically playing tech support full-time. And trust me, untangling plugin conflicts isn’t nearly as fun as creating awesome graphics for you all.
So, after a lot of thinking (or as I lovingly call it, “Google rabbit-holing”), I stumbled across something—a YouTube video that changed EVERYTHING. Yes, all it took was 8 glorious minutes of someone else’s expertise.
Meet Our Game-Changer: Shopify
That’s right, folks! We’ve jumped off the WordPress train and landed on the glorious shores of SHOPIFY. And let me tell you—it feels like we’ve gone from struggling with dial-up to running on lightning-fast fiber-optic internet!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, Shopify is an e-commerce platform that doesn’t just make running an online store easier—it makes it fun. Yes, fun. The kind of fun that means fewer headaches for us and a ton more cool stuff we can offer YOU. So, what does this mean for Laughingbird Software? Oh, I’m so glad you asked.
What’s New at Laughingbird Software?
Okay, here’s the exciting part. With Shopify powering our site, we’re not just selling our software anymore. We’re diving into the dreamy land of Print On Demand. Think personalized wall art, customized t-shirts, coffee mugs, hoodies… you name it, we can probably personalize it.
Introducing the “Personalize Your Own Wall Art” Service!
Yup, we’re jumping into the world of customizable wall décor! Picture this: You pick a design template from our collection, add your own personal touch (like custom text or colors), and BAM—it gets professionally printed and shipped right to your doorstep in just days.
Seriously, who wouldn’t want their favorite quote or a treasured moment hanging on their wall? And the best part? You can now offer this to YOUR customers too! That’s right—you can start creating and selling your own personalized wall art *without* having to worry about keeping a warehouse full of frames and paint.
Why Shopify Is Our New Best Friend
Let’s get real for a second. Shopify isn’t just “good.” It’s a total game-changer—and here’s why:
- Ease of Use: No guesswork, no extensive coding experience required. Shopify makes it easy for non-techies like me to build and manage an online store.
- Speed: If you’ve used WordPress, you know there are moments when it lags. Shopify? It’s as smooth as butter in a hot pan.
- Versatility: It’s ideal for software sales, digital downloads, and physical products like our new print-on-demand wall art.
Shopify allows you to start your store on a Monday, launch it by Tuesday, and *maybe* even make sales by the weekend. (Side effects may include: happy dances, spontaneous high-fives, and the sudden urge to start marketing.)
Creatorpreneur Tool of the Week: Shopify
Not only are we now sellin’ away on Shopify, but did you know that YOU can set up your own store too? Ever thought about selling t-shirts where the customers can upload their OWN images? Or mugs printed with hilarious dad jokes? Well, Shopify makes that dream as easy as clicking “Add to Cart.”
And remember, you don’t need an actual storehouse or physical stock. Everything is printed on demand. You sell, your print-on-demand partner fulfills—it’s like magic, except with coffee mugs and hoodies.
What Kicked Off the Shopify Adventure
The big lightbulb moment for us came from a fantastic YouTube video, which I’ve embedded below for your viewing pleasure. If you’re even a little curious about starting your own shop—or making your current selling process smoother—grab a cup of coffee and give it 8 minutes of your day. You won’t regret it!
Creatorpreneur Tip of the Week: Try Shopify
Here’s my challenge for you: Test out Shopify for a week. Just a week. I promise it’s not like committing to a gym membership—you actually get to see results right away. (And you won’t have to step on a scale.)
Need guidance? Head over to good ol’ Laughingbird Software and check out the kind of awesome products we’re now selling on Shopify. Take notes. Be inspired!
Still skeptical? Watch a few Shopify tutorials on YouTube. It’s like binge-watching Netflix for your future side hustle.
FAQs: The Creatorpreneurs Newsletter – Issue #9 – SHOPIFY
